About Prighter

Prighter is a fast-growing LegalTech company building productised services and SaaS solutions for compliance with data protection as well as AI & digital governance regulations. With the mission to enable companies around the world to comply with regulatory requirements for their digital business, our services and SaaS solutions guide our global clients through the increasingly complex legal landscape.

Uniquely in our sector, we are born out of a law firm and now deliver our solutions to companies of all sizes in over 50 countries. We are an innovative tech-centered business with the benefit of legal capability running through our company – this is a significant differentiator in what we deliver. The diversity of our client base mirrors the diversity of our international team. To further strengthen our product development, we are looking for a Legal Engineer who brings legal expertise and technology together.

The Role

As Legal Engineer you are part of our product development team and the bridge between our legal experts, product management and engineering. Your main focus is to translate regulatory requirements – under the GDPR, the EU AI Act, the EU Data Act, the DSA, NIS 2 and other frameworks – into the logic, workflows, templates and content that power our SaaS products and productised services. Where needed, you will also support our legal service team with client work, which keeps you close to the real-world problems our products solve.

Product development (main focus)

  • Analyse regulatory requirements and translate them into product requirements, decision trees, rule sets and data models.
  • Design, build and maintain automated workflows, questionnaires, forms, document templates and communication templates on our platforms.
  • Work closely with product management and engineering on specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria, and test new features from a legal perspective.
  • Identify and implement use cases for AI/LLMs in our legal workflows, including prompt design, evaluation and quality assurance of outputs.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and keep the legal content of our products up to date.
  • Build and maintain legal knowledge bases, product documentation, FAQs and help content.

Legal service support (as needed)

  • Support our legal team on client matters in data protection, AI governance and digital regulation, e.g. data subject requests, correspondence with supervisory authorities and drafting of legal memos and documents.
  • Feed insights from client work back into product improvements.

The role is hybrid with our office in Vienna. Remote work is possible, however you should be located in the EU, the UK or Switzerland.

Skills

Required

  • Degree in law or comparable legal qualification.
  • 2+ years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, privacy consultancy, legal operations or LegalTech.
  • Solid knowledge of EU data protection law (GDPR) and a strong interest in AI and digital regulation.
  • Strong affinity for technology and process thinking – you enjoy breaking down complex legal requirements into logical, repeatable steps.
  • Hands-on experience with at least some of the following: no-code/low-code or workflow automation tools, document automation, process modelling (e.g. BPMN) or generative AI tools.
  • Structured, precise way of working and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially also in English.
  • Availability during normal business hours (CET).
  • Fast learning and openness to new and changing tasks.
  • Humour and the ability to make others laugh and to inspire.

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of further frameworks such as the EU AI Act, EU Data Act, DSA, NIS 2, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP or Türkiye KVKK.
  • Basic technical skills, e.g. scripting (Python or JavaScript), JSON/YAML, APIs or SQL.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, LLM evaluation or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Privacy or AI governance certification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP).
  • Familiarity with agile methods and product tools.
  • Experience working in startups and in small teams.
  • Any additional language skills besides English and an international background.

Perks

  • Shape how legal expertise becomes software – a break from the monotony of traditional legal practice.
  • Grow in a multidisciplinary team and be inspired by seasoned professionals in other fields.
  • Hybrid work environment fitting your preferences.
  • Budget for relevant educational opportunities and certifications.
  • Take pride in knowing you are delivering some peace of mind to businesses around the world and contribute to the accessibility of privacy and digital rights for millions of people.
